A study by Mastercard showed growth in holiday spending, even as it recognized that consumers also sought value from their purchases:

U.S. retail sales grew 3.8% from November 1 through December 24 (excluding automotive sales), according to Mastercard Spending Pulse, which said the growth showed a consumer base willing to spend but also focused on products offering value.
