In Part 2 of our two-part series on 8th & Walton’s free online resources, Heather Reid, Director of Education Canada and Accounting Insights at 8th & Walton, describes the in-depth resources available on our website. (Check out Part 1 here!)
Lainie: Last week we focused on a general overview of the company’s website and the resources available there. This time, I want to dig a little deeper and talk about some of the more in-depth tools on the site. Could you talk about those resources, such as the Scintella™ Support Hub?
Heather: Absolutely. The Scintella™ Support Hub includes seven different blog-style sections within the hub itself. These areas were created around topics that came up as everyone was transitioning into Scintella™ and learning how to use it effectively.
There were questions like, “What does this column mean—this year versus last year?” and how those definitions apply. There was also a lot of information about timing and processes to help bridge the gap for new users. Even if you’ve been using Scintella™ for a couple of years, those resources are still very relevant.

Lainie: What is this free business assessment?
Heather: The assessment is a great tool. It gives suppliers who may have questions an opportunity to see what kind of value and support resources we offer. You can book a 15-minute consultation with one of our experts—I’m one of them!
For example, if a supplier receives a check and notices a claim on it, but isn’t sure which accounting portal to use to research it, we can walk them through that. The consultation is completely free and 100% confidential.
Lainie: Great. There are also some resources about terminology frequently used within the Walmart supplier community. Why is it important that a supplier understands these terms—for example, “collect” versus “prepaid” delivery?
Heather: It’s really important to speak the Walmart language. Knowing the terminology gives you credibility when you’re talking with a Walmart buyer or a member of the replenishment team. It helps the conversation flow more smoothly.
For instance, “collect” means Walmart uses its own transportation to pick up your product, while “prepaid” means you use your own transportation to get the product to Walmart distribution centers.
